I can't believe it's been a month since the trip! Time really does fly. Even though the trip is done with, I am still on a mission to continue volunteering my time to help those in need. I found a really cool non-profit called Rebuilding Together, which have many chapters spread throughout the US. Their mission is to "bring volunteers and communities together to improve the homes and lives of homeowners in need." They offer free home repairs, to those in need, to ensure they have a warm and safe home.
There are many ways in which one can volunteer for this non-profit. If you have money, they are always taking donations. If you have new or used supplies, such as home fixtures or tools, laying around the house, they take whatever they can get. Lastly, you can volunteer your time working behind the scenes, making food or doing office work, or go out and do the physical labor of fixing a home. Their annual event National Rebuilding Day takes place next week Saturday, April 30th. They are planning to fix 15 low-income homes in one day. Pretty cool, huh? I would encourage anyone who finds this interesting, to sign up and volunteer. Here's the link to their website: http://www.rebuildingtogether-twincities.org/
Give a couple hours of your Saturday giving back to those less fortunate. Trust me, it's worth it!
